So it's my last day here. Overall the films in competition have been varied - I think the most talked about ones so far are The Rover from David Michod, with Guy Pearce and Robert Pattison and actually not in competition, Mr Turner from Mike Leigh, Turkish film Winter's Sleep and Two Days, One Night from the double Palme D'Or winners the Dardennes brothers.
Me, I saw a small Argentinian film called The Desert about a post apocalyptic world where 3 survivors are stuck, indefinitely inside a small bunker. Tensions, sexual and otherwise ensue.

I also managed a few drinks in the evening last night at open houses at the offices of Screen Australia, NZ Film Commission and at Bankside Films, a sales company. All have offices on La Croisette overlooking the beach. Fantastic!
Also earlier had a meeting with David Collins, the producer of Irish film Once, who's a lovely, friendly, very enthusiastic filmmaker. We are discussing the possibility that our film, Lonely Girl, could be an Irish/Australian co-production. He's also helping intro the film to Cillian Murphy who could play the lead male role. "He'll read it with himself in mind for the part," he said "but they all do that, don't they?"

It's been a great week. I leave with some great leads for international sales for our film Lonely Girl, some intel on upcoming films I will sell for TV and also a number of screeners to watch for films that I may try and pick up for distribution. Will be a couple of weeks before I can really say how the business side of the trip went but overall it's definitely worth it to be here.
Thanks for reading my blog!
