Hi there,
Welcome to my blog for Sundance 2014. I’m here as Executive Producer for a psychological thriller called The Babadook, which opens the Park City at Midnight section of Sundance on Friday night. This is my first Sundance and I’m a bit wide-eyed about the whole thing but excited to launch the film.

Hi there,
Welcome to my blog for Sundance 2014. I’m here as Executive Producer for a psychological thriller called The Babadook, which opens the Park City at Midnight section of Sundance on Friday night. This is my first Sundance and I’m a bit wide-eyed about the whole thing but excited to launch the film.
A quick overview – Sundance is a top Utah ski resort with a world famous film festival. While the focus is more on US films, there are a significant number of overseas films. Films can break out here – there are numerous past hits, high profile ones include The Blair Witch Project, Napoleon Dynamite and Little Miss Sunshine.
This afternoon I walked around the main street – the town is cute with chalet houses and stores, lots of Christmas lights (still) and a ski hill just behind with night skiing.
Tickets are hard to come by and I’ve heard of 3 hour queues, so fingers crossed I can get to see some films too.
Just had a couple of hours with The Babadook creative team including director, lead actress, both producers, cinematographer and art director. It’s a big team, plus partners and a few kids – everyone is jetlagged from overseas flights but ready for a day of interviews and strategic meetings with the sales folks on how to position and sell the movie. They are all staying at a big condo overlooking the main street, with amazing views of the town and the ski hill. One of the producers was on a flight over with Zach Braff, who has a film here (Zach was at the pointy end of the plane).
Just had a beer in an outdoor hot tub in sub-zero temperatures, so I’m psyched for tomorrow.
