Are you sick of people asking if you've done all your Christmas shopping or where you’re going for the holidays? In amongst the organising, excitement and indulging at this time of year it’s nice to remember there’s more to Christmas than statutory holidays. So on Monday 23rd December at 8.30pm why don't you sink your teeth into Lost Christmas, a drama filled with interweaving story-lines set in Manchester on Christmas Eve.

This feel good modern day fable was co-written by comedian Eddie Izzard, who also stars as mysterious character Anthony who turns up on a street unsure of who he is and where he’s come from. It turns out Anthony has psychic powers and can see into people’s pasts, enabling them to find something they've lost - it could be something as simple as a bracelet or as tragic as the loss of a child.

The idea behind this story is that terrible things happen but we shouldn't lose sight of hope. Lost Christmas reminds us that simple actions can change our lives and the lives of those around us. It’s also a film that most of the family can enjoy - maybe after the littlies have been put to bed.

If you’re after feel-good flicks then don’t forget that Dustin Hoffman’s debut feature Quartet screens on Saturday 21st December at 8.30pm. With a stellar cast that includes Tom Courtenay, Billy Connolly, Maggie Smith & Michael Gambon, Hoffman has created a charming, sentimental and fun comedy about celebrating life even as we grow old.

And then there’s the big day itself. At some point you may find yourself suffering the repercussion of over-indulgence and, if that’s the case, can I suggest you put your feet up and enjoy the Rake Box Set: Series One (kicking off on December 25th at 12.40pm). That’s all eight episodes - and after the first episode you’ll appreciate the opportunity to binge on the entire series. If you’re still recovering on Boxing Day you’ll be able to follow-up with into Rake Box Set: Series 2.

So put your feet up and relax. You've earned it.

Have a wonderful Christmas, and all the best wishes for the New Year.

Francesca.
