Alfred Rott (Timothy Spall) is a cantankerous architect who embarks upon an unusual commission for an eccentric billionaire who calls himself the Grand Duke of Corsica (Peter Stormare). As a deadly malaria epidemic hits the island and causes panic, Alfred remains to finish the job.
