Dinosaur 13

In 1990, while on a dig in South Dakota, paleontologist Pete Larson and his crew found a Tyrannosaurus rex fossil in remarkable condition. Working diligently to piece together the T. Rex, Pete, paid land owner Maurice Williams $5,000 (a handshake deal) for the find. After a year of labour, government officials entered the picture, claiming Pete had no legal right to claim the T. Rex. For Pete, the loss was devastating, with his efforts to reclaim the fossil taking up almost a decade of his life.
